This workshop is full, but you can give us a call at (561) 447-4147 to be put on the Wait List. We still have space available in Wednesday's Starburst Quilt Workshop. |
Ice Cream Quilt Workshop
In this workshop led by iconic artists Kaffe Fassett and Brandon Mably, you'll begin with a fussy-cut panel around which frame after frame is built, creating a pleasing setting for the central panel. Kaffe's Ice Cream quilts are color bias.
Date: Tuesday, October 22, 2019 from 9:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Location: Boca Raton Community Center - 150 Crawford Blvd, Boca Raton, FL 33432
Lunch included (there will be a 1 hour lunch break)
Quilts in the Cotswolds book included (to be released August 2019)
2 yards of exclusive Kaffe design wall included
You will not be sewing in this class, we will be focused on color and design.
Fabric to bring to class:
For the central panel, choose a favorite large-scale design. Then bring 12-18 prints in tonally similar colors but varying in scale and design to audition for the logs/frames. For the logs, you need as little as 1/8 yd to as much as 1 yd for each. The logs are varying widths and can accommodate varying scales and designs.
If you are not sure how you are going to proceed, that's okay. You can bring your stash favorites and be prepared to shop with Kaffe and Brandon at the workshop.
Please feel free to bring any fabrics you would like to use to the workshop-these do not have to be Kaffe Fassett Collective fabrics.
Please do NOT precut fabrics before class.
Additional Supplies to bring to class:
Rotary cutter with new blade
Cutting mat - at least 12 x 18. In some cases, you may be cutting width of fabric strips.
Quilter's rotary ruler at least 6 x 18. In some cases, you may be cutting width of fabric strips.
Optional: reducing glass or peephole
Some participants prefer that they know beforehand exactly what fabrics to bring, but the principle of this class is to inspire creativity and work instinctively. We don't have a theory or work from a planned recipe. We all like different fabrics and colours for different reasons and so we should! The best suggestion we can give participants is to bring a selection of large-scale or high-profile designs in either bright/light colours or dark/richer colours. It's much easier to have more fabrics to play with in the class and be able to eliminate. - Kaffe and Brandon.
Please be aware that you may need/want to buy additional fabrics during the workshop. Kaffe and Brandon may advise/encourage you to purchase more on the day to get your fabric selection just right.
StitchCraft will be providing:
Quilts in the Cotswolds - Kaffe's new book
Flannel Design Wall
PLEASE NOTE: No sewing takes place during the workshop.
